Walking with wolves at the Predator Experience in Cumbria

Legend has it that back in the 14th century, Cumbria laid claim to slaying the last wolf in England. The story goes that the wolf was chased over Windermere and swam across the lake in an attempt to escape its fate and from there made its way down the Cartmel Peninsula where it eventually, despite a valiant effort, met its end on the shores of Humphrey Head.
Alas, this cannot be proven but it is a claim that is well backed. Wild wolves did manage to hold out from extermination in Scotland until the late 17th/18th century but, in time, they too would lose their stronghold to the hands and weapons of men.
