The International Wolf Center’s ambassador wolves play a crucial role in reinforcing our educational messages and fostering a meaningful connection with each of our visitors, both in-person and online. Their presence enriches the experiences and embodies our mission to educate and inspire all who encounter them. They are our most effective educators and the most effective way to further our mission to advance the survival of wolf populations by teaching about wolves, their relationship to wildlands and the human role in their future.
The Wolf Guardian sponsorship program lets you feel a special connection to the wolves and the exceptional team caring for them. Guardian sponsorships are used to fund the care of the ambassador wolves and provides you the opportunity to learn more about them through special opportunities such as a behind-the-scenes event, an individual Zoom with wolf care staff and access to our 2025 webinar series.
The most critical component of the wolf care program is the time and attention the team devotes to each wolf to assess and provide for their wellbeing. Care at this level also comes at a cost. The two largest and most important investments are employing an exceptional wolf care team and maintaining an exhibit that provides the wolves with an enriching habitat.
When you become a Wolf Guardian, you are helping to support the ambassador wolves and the wolf care team that cares for them!
Wolf Guardian Sponsorship (January 1 – December 31, 2025): $1,500
- 25 sponsorship opportunities available for current International Wolf Center members
- Guardians may choose any wolf to sponsor.
- Guardians may also select more than one wolf, but no discounts or additional benefits apply to sponsor multiple wolves.
Your sponsorship benefits include:
- A Welcome to the Guardian Program webinar via Zoom for all current Guardians.
- An opportunity to interact with the wolf care staff and other Guardians as well as a short program.
- One individual Zoom video call per Guardian with wolf care staff.
- A digital photo of your sponsored wolf will be emailed once per quarter.
- 1-hour special event for up to six people (virtual or in-person).
- This opportunity must be scheduled in advance, by appointment only (no exceptions allowed).
- Wolf care team members will deliver an enrichment item to the ambassadors during this event. Bonus: It is likely that all the wolves will participate in the enrichment!
Virtual:
- Choose an enrichment item from the approved list of items found in our freezer.
- Get a unique perspective of the wolves without leaving your own home and without the buzz of mosquitos in your ears.
In-person:
- Develop your own enrichment with items provided by wolf care staff.
- Schedule between May and early August to minimize stress for the ambassador wolves.
- Capture stunning photographs through one of the half gates in the wolf yard!
- Advance communication by the wolf care team of any significant life-changing events of your sponsored wolf prior to any public announcement (e.g., retirement).
