Ted Turner took the cows off his Montana ranch in 1989. Then Yellowstone’s wolves moved in, and he ordered that none be shot
From Futura-Sciences.com:
In 1989, media mogul Ted Turner purchased the 113,613 acre Flying D Ranch southwest of Bozeman, Montana. He removed all domestic cattle and introduced a managed herd of bison across the native grasslands. When wolves dispersed from Yellowstone National Park seven years later, Turner instructed his staff not to shoot them, even if they preyed on his livestock.
His decision tested whether a commercial ranching operation and wild apex predators could coexist on private Western land.
