Bausha stood out with her remarkable masking as a juvenile wolf.
Bausha was born on April 24, 1989 and was a littermate to Ballazar, Raissa, and Jedadiah. These four were the International Wolf Center’s first ambassador wolves! They served as educational ambassadors during the summer seasons of 1989, 1990, and 1991. By four months of age, Bausha and Raissa’s rank-order dominance began to increase, leading to the management decision to separate them. With each consecutive summer after a winter lacking exposure to the public, the wolves became increasingly shy towards viewing. The management team decided that finding alternative options for the remaining 1989 littermates was best for their quality of life. In the fall of 1992, Bausha and Jedadiah were transferred to a permanent enclosure maintained by the Wolf Curator. Even though the Center was only seasonal during the time this litter was on display, thousands of visitors viewed these wolves. The educational programs related to this litter played a crucial role in helping the Center establish itself as a science-based educational facility.

The International Wolf Center uses science-based education to teach and inspire the world about wolves, their ecology, and the wolf-human relationship.
