Ballazar was an iconic traveler known and admired by many.
Ballazar was born on April 24, 1989 and was a littermate to Raissa, Bausha, and Jedadiah. These four were the International Wolf Center’s first ambassador wolves! They served as educational ambassadors during the summer seasons of 1989, 1990, and 1991. With each consecutive summer after a winter lacking exposure to the public, the wolves became increasingly shy towards viewing. The management team decided that finding alternative options for the remaining 1989 littermates was best. In 1991, Ballazar joined the Sawtooth Pack in Stanley, Idaho, filmed by Jim Dutcher for an ABC production titled “The Wolf: Return of a Legend.” He then traveled to Mission:Wolf in Colorado, where he lived under their wonderful care for 9 years until passing away in 2001.

The International Wolf Center uses science-based education to teach and inspire the world about wolves, their ecology, and the wolf-human relationship.
