Will Colorado find wolves to release this winter?

As winter approaches, so does Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s deadline to secure a source for gray wolves if it wants to release additional animals this year.
Parks and Wildlife’s wolf management plan recommends that the agency release 30 to 50 wolves in the program’s first three to five years to build a self-sustaining population as mandated by voters. During the first two winters of its reintroduction effort, the state wildlife agency tracked toward this goal, releasing 25 wolves from Oregon and British Columbia.
