Newsom Revives California’s Wildlife Coexistence Program as Wolves Have a Record 42 Pups

Gov. Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill 1135 on Tuesday, bringing that work back under a new name, the Wildlife Coexistence Program. The bill from state Sen. Catherine Blakespear of Encinitas also writes into law the state program that pays ranchers for livestock lost to wolves and helps buy nonlethal deterrents such as flagged electric fencing.
