Cedar and his littermate, Rowan, were born on April 22, 2025. From the moment wolf care team members picked him up for the first time he was heard growling and communicating clearly his boundaries. Despite this bold attitude, he displayed very submissive behaviors to Grayson, the well-respected dominant male during their introduction to the Exhibit Pack. This submissiveness seems to extend to Caz, the current dominant male, although Cedar always seems ready to engage in focused ritualized dominance, especially toward Blackstone, the lowest ranking male in the pack. Cedar has a very social relationship with all members of the Exhibit Pack, but seems to favor Rieka at times. His current status as a subordinate juvenile wolf may change as he matures.
To distinguish Cedar from the rest of the Exhibit Pack, his black coat color and facial features are easiest to identify. Cedar has a shorter muzzle than Rowan, with more black fur concentrated around his face. His eyes are round and amber in color. Both yearlings are around 100 pounds each.
