In contrast to the nationwide trend, the number of wolf packs living in Saxony is decreasing slightly.
Saxony has 37 wolf packs – putting it in third place in a Germany-wide comparison. Compared to the previous year, the number fell by one in the 2023/2024 monitoring year, contrary to the national trend, according to data from the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) in Bonn. There were also six pairs of wolves. Offspring were confirmed in 33 of the 43 territories, with 106 pups.
