Dr. L. David Mech Science Education Endowment

Investing in the Future of Wolf Education

In 1985, Dr. L. David Mech founded the International Wolf Center on a simple belief: protecting wolves begins with understanding them, and understanding begins with people going into the field to observe and learn.

The Dr. L. David Mech Fellowship has put that belief into practice. Each year, promising undergraduates and recent graduates receive a stipend and field research support to begin careers in wildlife science.

The Dr. L. David Mech Science Education Endowment was established by resolution of the International Wolf Center Board of Directors to provide reliable, perpetual funding to support fellowships annually.

Your endowment gift addresses immediate needs through annual income, and the invested remaining funds ensure support for future generations.

As the endowment grows, its scope may expand beyond the fellowship program to support additional science education and research initiatives consistent with the mission of the International Wolf Center, ensuring the fund can flexibly advance wolf science as opportunities and needs evolve.
