Wolf encounters becoming more frequent on Michigan’s Isle Royale as new packs take hold

ISLE ROYALE, MI – Wolf encounters on Michigan’s remote Isle Royale National Park have seen an uptick this summer, with rangers “getting several reports of wolf sightings every week,” a park spokesperson said.

These sightings have ranged from hikers on the island seeing a flash of tan fur or black-tipped tail through the trees, to a couple who reported wolves sniffing around their tent and kayaks one early morning, to an incredible close encounter one man posted on social media this week.
