Region’s coyotes getting larger, more wolf-like, scientists say

Coyotes have lived on the East Coast from Newfoundland to Virginia since the 1930s, and in the Carolinas and south since the 1980s.

Recent genetic tests have shown the Eastern coyotes are a mixture of coyote, wolf and dog, which is why they tend to be bigger than their Western cousins.
