The hunting and trapping of all wolves in Montana Wolf Management Unit 313, which include portions of Park County north of Gardiner, closed yesterday at one half-hour after sunset. The order halting the hunt came after Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks officials received word that the pre-established harvest quota of one wolf had been met for the hunt unit. As controversial as wolf management and recovery efforts are, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks approved a quota system of hunting in the state for the canid.
