Omashkooz: Returning a Native

Omashkooz is the Ojibwe word for elk.  Mike Schrage, the wildlife biologist for the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, will talk about the efforts of the Fond du Lac Band, the University of Minnesota and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation to investigate the feasibility of restoring elk to parts of northeast Minnesota.  He’ll talk about the history and ecology of elk in the eastern United States and the potential for restoring elk to northeast Minnesota.

Assessing the Pack’s Medical Needs

Webinar rate: $15 Non-members, $12 Members The Center’s wolves are licensed under the direction of the Mn DNR and the USDA Animal Plant Health Inspection Service or APHIS.  The protocol is legislated by the Animal Welfare Act and as part of the act, the wolves are required to have a tri-annual medical exam.  Join us as we detail the Exhibit Pack’s recent exam and we discuss common canine diseases and abnormalities.

Remembering Past Pup Introductions
